What we collect

If you join the mailing list, we store your email address, the language version of the site you signed up on, the date and time of sign-up, and the consent you gave.

The site runs on Google's Firebase App Hosting. To keep the site secure and to trace errors, the hosting provider keeps technical logs for each request, such as the IP address, browser details and the time of the request.

To prevent abuse and automated sign-ups, when the email form is sent we keep an irreversibly hashed digest of your IP address and the number of attempts for at most two days; we do not store the IP address itself. We also check through DNS records that your email address's domain can receive mail.

We do not collect any other data, such as accounts, payments or comments.

Cookies and tracking

The site uses no cookies and contains no analytics, advertising or social media tracking. Fonts and images are served from the site's own server; no requests are sent to other companies' servers.

Why we process data, and on what legal basis

We use your email address only to send announcements about the book, such as its release date and the first chapter. The legal basis is the explicit consent you give when signing up (KVKK Art. 5(1), GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).

Technical server logs and attempt counts rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and working (KVKK Art. 5(2)(f), GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

How long we keep it

We keep your email address until you leave the list or ask us to delete it. We act on deletion requests within 30 days at the latest.

Technical server logs are subject to the hosting provider's retention periods.

Where data is stored and who it is shared with

Data is stored in Google Cloud data centres in the European Union (the Netherlands). As our service provider, Google processes this data only on our behalf.

Because Google is a US-based company, the data may be accessed from outside the EU; such transfers are covered by the standard contractual clauses in Google's data processing terms.

We do not sell or rent your data, and we do not share it with other people or companies for marketing.

Your rights

Under Article 11 of the KVKK and the GDPR, you have the right to find out whether your data is processed, to access it, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to its processing and to withdraw your consent at any time. You may also lodge a complaint with the Turkish Personal Data Protection Authority or the data protection authority in your country.

To exercise these rights, simply write to support@thesinsofthefathers.com.

Leaving the list

Every email we send contains an unsubscribe link. You can also leave at any time by writing to support@thesinsofthefathers.com.

Changes

If we update this policy, we will change the date on this page. We will also notify the addresses on the mailing list of any significant changes.
